It’s with great, well, apathy (I guess!) that I announce that this will be the last post on this blog.  You see, I’ve been a very bad blogger here since Lillie came into the picture and I feel guilty. It’s just too hard to keep two (er, um, three–if you count my super secret blog) going and I’m just going to give up the ghost on it.

The good news–or at least the tidbit that makes up the “sort of” part of the title–is that I’m not going away.  I’m going to continue to post at The Otter’s Den.  Readers of this blog will have to deal with family updates and me bragging about my genius child and readers of that blog will have to deal with video clips, book reviews and occassional political rants.

So, while the updates are going to end here, they are still happening, just over at The Otter’s Den instead.  Hopefully I’ll see you there!

I don’t.

So, it’s been a while since I posted here.  If you don’t read my other blog, then you don’t know that, two days after my last post, I had a baby.  Very exciting, I know!  But, if you want all the details, you’ll have to check out the other site.

However, I will tell you all here that I am adjusting to the sleep deprivation.  What brought this to mind is this video clip, which I think is exactly what sleep deprivation feels like.

Yes, this is my life.  Excuse me if posts are few and far between for a while.

I don’t watch many reality shows–right now, I’m down to just The Biggest Loser and catching up on old episodes of Little People, Big World.  However, I can across this article today and all I can say is, “I knew I was not the only one.”

And, just for the record, I’m an ice cream gal. Oh yeah, I also know what both quinoa and kale are and, yes, I have actually cooked with quinoa (but not kale).

One of my friends posted this on Facebook today.  I don’t get a chance to watch the Ellen show much, so I didn’t see this when it was actually on TV.  Anyway, this is hilarious!

First off, Scott–you may want to call Pat and gloat.  He deserves it.

I made it all the way through the Superbowl, from beginning to end.  I think it was the first time I was actually able to accomplish that.  Thankfully, there was lots of game time for this preggo lady to make bathroom runs–so I didn’t have to miss any of the commercials.

Speaking of commercials, I have come up with my top 3.  I had to pull them off Hulu, so just click on the links to see them.

#3 – If nothing else, this one wins the cute award.

#2 – This one probably had a chance at the #1 spot if it weren’t for the small animal part.  Other than that, I totally relate to it (or at least I did until about 6 months ago!)

#1 – Okay, I know the guy is a scumbag in real life, but how can you not say this is the PERFECT commercial for him?

Finally, I ask you to put the Superbowl and its commercials behind you as I share with you what is my current favorite commercial (which, alas, was not on the Superbowl).  Since I am a news junkie who watches CNN during the day, this ad appeals to my twisted sense of humor (and I’ve only ever seen it on CNN during the day).  Enjoy!

It’s been a while since I posted, but I’m in my 9th month of pregnancy, so deal with it!  Also, when you are in your 9th month of pregnancy, you can tell people to just deal with it and that’s okay.  Ha ha!

Anyway, I have to hearken back to my quest I talked about earlier on learning how to make pies.  I won’t go into the whole thing, you’ll just have to read about it here.

I am glad to announce that I have had success!  I have not only found a great crust recipe but also the world’s best pumpkin pie recipe!  I got it from Miss Kerry (although I don’t know if she ever actually made it, it was in a cookbook she loaned to me).  My brother-in-law said the crust was great–I’m not one to turn down a compliment, but I’ve always likened pie crust to bread crust…something that is just there.  Oh well, apparently there is something to a good crust.  As for the filling, my Studmuffin loved it and it really is good.  And, best of all, it did not come from the back of the pumpkin can!   Mmm-mmm!

What’s next?  Well, my life is probably going to be a little hectic for a while, but when I get a chance, I have about 30 more recipes to try (Miss Kerry–I do promise to get that book back to you soon!).  When rhubarb is back in season, I’m going to try my mom’s rhubarb custard pie, which really is delicious.  Since she tends to conveniently run out of rhubarb right before I come to visit, I thought I’d better become self-sufficient on this one.  I’ll keep y’all posted!

I have to admit, I’m a little shocked by all the Obama-related stuff for sale. And the plate? Well, it kind of gives me the creeps. However, I saw this while watching my main source of news this morning, and couldn’t resist!

For Christmas, my mother got me a “Spanish Phrase-A-Day” calendar.  As some of you know, I enjoyed Spanish 101 last term but won’t be able to take another Spanish class for a while due to the impending arrival.  So, I thought it was a nice gift.

Now I’m wondering about it!
