Books, books, books!

Okay, Scott got on my back about starting this blog’s third year on a bad note by not posting anything.  My apologies to the two or three of you missed it.  I’ve been somewhat busy at work and home and didn’t have much to talk about.

So, I debated about writing a post about baseball or books and the latter won out.  I recently finished Alcatraz versus the Evil Librarians and LOVED it.  I will do up a review at some point, but here is what you need to know.  It is MUCH better than Harry Potter.

Speaking of books better than Harry Potter, I’m almost done with Cornelia Funke’s Inkheart.  Oh my, oh my, it is absolutely amazing.  This is the book I always wished I wrote!  And there is a movie coming out, which has me a little worried.  I’ll still see it on opening day (I’m tempted to dress up!  ha ha!), but I can tell from the trailer that liberties have been taken.  And, despite the fact that Cornelia Funke demanded that Brendan Frasier play Mo, he seems horribly miscast to me (appearance is fine, but he needs Morgan Freeman’s voice).  Anyhow, I’ll rant and rave more once I’ve actually finished with it.  And, my dear book club pals, prepare to watch me beg for you all to read this when it comes time to select new books!

And, I have a cook book to recommend.  It’s hot off the presses, so I haven’t actually seen it.  However, the author is coming to my house TOMORROW night to teach a cooking class (woo-hoo!).  If you enjoy cooking, check out the book here.  It features recipes from many of the restaurants in the Portland area, as well as from the author herself.  This is definitely one to buy.  (and, no, I’m not getting a kickback!)

  1. Question one:
If I have a gormet chef come to my house and teach a cooking class, which ends up like having a cooked dinner, does that now make me some kind of yuppie?

    Question two:
How many red neck things do I have to do to compensate for this kind of thing?

    Question three:
Anyone got any recommendation on what kind of red neck stuff I should do now that I have an excuse?

  2. Hey
Just wanted to let you know that I am still a lurker…still like to see how you are doing time and again…so keep up with the writing, it’s always nice to see what you are up to.
    Take Care.
