I stumbled across this surprisingly good article today which explained why I like Barack Obama. He is, apparently, female. Hillary Clinton is male–which is either a step up or a step down from McCain, who is a hermaphrodite.
Silliness aside, it’s an interesting observation on the different campaigns.

Back in the good ole days of the cold war, the majority of people wanted an ass whooping take charge kind of guy who wouldn’t take crap from the Soviets. Truman, Eisenhower, JFK, Nixon and Reagan were all those kind of guys when we felt threatened. When we didn’t feel all that threatened we elected Carter (detente of the 70’s) and then Clinton after the fall of the Soviet Union.
Carter was elected to bring respect and peace back to society (camp David Accords and his squeeky clean image). Clinton was pretty well known for asking how’s the economy instead of talking about his lack of knowledge in foreign policy.
My personal thought is that if the situation in Iraq keeps quiet, then the shift in the debate goes back to the electorate wanting a more civilized, less polarized leader, which clearly favors Obama. Domestic policy becomes more key, and I think most people still remember Hillary’s foray into forced universal health care back in the 90’s and will remember she is indeed experienced, but not in a good way. Hillary’s I’m experienced and he’s not quest will actually backfire if that occurs.
